Sheet Metal Fabrication at Vidhee Eng. Works
Buying fabricated sheet metal parts should be simple: you send a drawing, you get a clear quote, and the parts arrive on the agreed date, made exactly as drawn. As a sheet metal fabrication company in Gujarat, Vidhee Eng. Works has worked towards that standard at our unit in New GIDC, Kabilpore, Navsari since 2004. Our CAD team and shop-floor staff work side by side, so a part is checked for how it will be cut, bent and welded before the first sheet is loaded on the machine.
Some customers come to us with a single prototype to prove a design; others need the same bracket in large repeat batches. Both are normal work for us. Because cutting, bending and welding happen in one place, you deal with one supplier and one point of contact from quotation to dispatch, whether the parts are going to a plant in Navsari, elsewhere in India or overseas.
What Is Sheet Metal Fabrication?
In simple terms, sheet metal fabrication is the work of turning flat sheet into a finished part. A typical part is cut to a flat blank, formed into shape, joined to other parts if needed and then finished. Each step affects the next: a blank cut slightly out of size will never bend correctly, and a poorly bent part will not sit square for welding.
That is why we look at the whole route at the quotation stage. For every job we ask four questions: which material and thickness suit the part, which tolerances really matter for fit and function, how many pieces are needed now and later, and what finish the part needs where it will be used. The answers decide the process, and they keep the cost sensible.
Most jobs start with a drawing in DXF, DWG, STEP or PDF form. If you only have a sample or a hand sketch, our CAD team can prepare the flat pattern and a manufacturing drawing for your approval.
How We Make Sheet Metal Parts
Laser Cutting
Flat blanks, holes, slots and profiles are cut on our CNC fiber laser cutting machine with a 2500 × 1250 mm bed. Parts are nested on the sheet to reduce scrap, and the clean laser edge means most blanks can go straight to bending without grinding.
CNC Bending
Blanks are formed on our CNC press brake. Bend angles and sequences are programmed, so the hundredth part matches the first. Our team works out the bend allowance and bend order at the drawing stage, which avoids parts that look right on paper but cannot be formed in practice.
Welding and Assembly
Where a design needs joints, parts are fitted and joined by our welding team, then cleaned and dressed. Parts that are not welded can be supplied ready for bolting or riveting on your assembly line.
Finishing
Parts are deburred and cleaned before dispatch. If your drawing calls for a coated or plated finish, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will include it in the quotation, so you receive parts ready for installation.
Why Sheet Metal Works Well for Industrial Parts
One process from prototype to production. The same cutting and bending programs used for a prototype are used for the production batch, so what you test is what you get later.
Strong parts at low weight. Bends, flanges and ribs add stiffness without adding much material, which keeps both weight and cost down.
Easy design changes. Changing a hole position or a flange length usually means editing a program, not making new tooling.
A wide choice of materials. "Sheet metal" describes a form, not a single metal. Mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and galvanised sheet each suit different jobs.
Choosing the Right Material
Mild steel (CRCA and HR) is the everyday choice for frames, brackets, covers and enclosures. Cold-rolled (CRCA) sheet gives a smooth surface that takes paint and powder coating well, while hot-rolled (HR) sheet and plate are used where thickness and strength matter more than appearance.
Stainless steel is used where parts face moisture, chemicals or washdown, or where hygiene matters, such as food, dairy, pharma and process equipment.
Aluminium is chosen when weight must be kept low or when the part must not rust, for example in covers, housings and transport equipment.
Galvanised (GI) sheet has a zinc coating that protects against corrosion, which makes it a common choice for ducting, panels and outdoor enclosures.
Not sure which to use? Send us the application and operating conditions, and we will suggest a material and thickness before you place the order.
